Mr. Cowart died April 28, 1977, at a hospital in Kansas City. He was a meat cutter for Wilson Packing Co., for 34 years, before retiring in 1964.
He was born at Dawt, Mo., in November 1986, the son of Joe and Lavada Martin Cowart. He was married on Nov. 15, 1931, to Mary Lee Hardison, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Claud Jerald and David, both of Kansas City, and Kenneth, Los Angeles, Calif.; five sisters, Connie Mitchell, San Francisco, Calif.; Hester Phillips, Dora, Mo.; Ruth Gaddy and Tessie Seever, both of St. Joseph, Mo.; and Helen Garrett, Dinuba, Calif.; three brothers, Leege Cowart, Hermitage, Mo., Joe Tom Cowart, St. Joseph, Mo., and Clifford Cowart, Ontario, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
