Lonnie A Burnett 81 of McKinney Mine Road, died Monday in Spruce Pine hospital.
A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Waits and Margaret Waycaster Burnett.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Buchanan Burnett; three daughters, Mary Baggett of Chapel Hill, Jean Martin of Altavista, Va; two sons Benny and Bill Burnett of Spruce Pine; four sisters, Nancy Conley, Intha Mae Ledford, and Nadine Hollifield, all of Spruce Pine and Lilly Campbell of Florida; two brother Claude and Harley Burnett Sr. of Spruce Pine; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chesnut Grove Baptist Chruch. The Revs. R.M. Cassity, Luther Carver and Homer Murdock Jr. officiated. Interment: Burnett Cemetery.
