James was the 13th child of Thomas Jefferson Davidson and Liza Belle Stansberry and beloved brother of 15 siblings. He was a member of the 193rd Glider Infantry that was sent to Bastogne to keep the Bastogne corridor open. The 193rd ran into heavy mortar, tank and artillery fire around the town of Flamizoule. James was killed during this attack. He was buried for a while in Belgium; his family fought to have him returned to the States. In Dec. 1948, he was buried next to his mother, and two of his sisters, Minnie Frances and Lillian Goldia (Goldie) Davidson in New Mexico.
