Galbraith was born March 16,
1918 to Rutheford and Edith
(Shook) Galbraith in Newell. He
lived his entire life in Newell, where
he drove trucks and was bus
supervisor for the Newell school.
He retired in 1973. He served in the
U. S . Navy from September 1942
until April 1946, serving in both
the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of
World War II. He was a member of
the Storm Lake Amvets, is a Past
State Commander of Amvets,
serving 1962-63, and a past Fourth
National District Commander of
Amvets, serving 1964-56. He was
also a member of the Newell VFW.
He was a life long member of the
First Congregational Church of
Newell and had served on the
Newell city council.
