Ella Mae Wind, age 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Salt Lake City September 2, 2000.

Born to Gilbert Marchant Green and Eva Ballantyne Green Jan 19, 1903 in Menan, ID. Married Ford Gardner in 1920 and later divorced. She had one son, Winslow Green Gardner, who, 23 years later, died a hero's death during World War II in New Guinea. Ella Mae graduated from nursing school in Idaho Falls and moved to Hollywood where she pursued her career in nursing for many years.

She was known for her extraordinary beauty and she constantly improved her life by studying the arts of singing, painting, speaking, and writing. She married Dr. Emil Wind Nov 7, 1964. They lived in Los Angeles until his death Dec 31, 1984. Ella Mae then moved to Salt Lake City. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She took pride in living independently to the age of 95, when ill health caused her to move to Highland Cove Health Center, where she received excellent and loving care.

Survived by her sisters, Evelyn Green Graham, Boise, ID, Martha Green Jorgensen, South Jordan, Norma Green Brough Rolfsen (Robert), Salt Lake City; and a brother, Clifton Ballantyne Green (Pauline), North Ogden; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five younger brothers and sisters.

Services Wed. Sept 6, 11 a.m., Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S, Salt Lake City. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment, Hyrum City Cemetery.
