Lloyd R. Marks Sr. (Sgt. Maj. U.S. Army Ret.), loving father and grandfather, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011. Born June 19, 1930, in Whitney, PA., he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, receiving the Bronze Star. He retired from the Army after 24 years service and then joined the Virginia Department of Taxation, retiring there after more than 20 years service. Mr. Marks is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd R. and Virginia Marks Jr. of Hampton; daughter, Deborah M. Canada of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Maurie D. Marks and Sean R. Marks and wife, Jennifer, all of Richmond; great-grandson, Mikko Marks of Richmond. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Masako Marks. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
