Joel M. McQuitty Jr., 84, of Columbia died Thursday, May 5, 1994, at Boone
Hospital Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at Parker Funeral Service
Chapel with the Rev. Stan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the
funeral home.

Mr. McQuitty was born Nov. 16, 1909, in Boone County to Joel M. McQuitty Sr.
and Mammie F. Brown McQuitty. On Dec. 30, 1931, he married Anna Lucille Payne,
and she survives.

He was a graduate of Columbia High School and lived his entire life in
Columbia.

He was employed as a farmer and was a 60-year member and worker at the
Woodlandville United Methodist Church.

Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Jerry L. McQuitty of Montgomery,
Ala., and Charles R. McQuitty of Santa Maria, Calif.; three sisters, Jean
Carpenter of St. Clair, Edna Hazard of Columbia and Mable Gorton of Ottawa,
Kan.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
