"SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK IN FARM FIELD - Barry Cummings, Life-long Resident, Found Dead in Pasture Yesterday - SERVED MANY YEARS AS J P - Barry Cummings, life-long resident of Little Cooley, Athens township, died suddenly from a heart attack while in the pasture at the rear of his home early yesterday afternoon. His lifeless body was found by his daughter, Mary E Cummings, when she went in search of her father at dinner time. A physician was called, who stated that the man had been dead for two or three hours and it is presumed that he was stricken soon after going into the pasture. Mr Cummings had been in his usual good health and had planned to attend the primary election during the day. After breakfast and between 7 and 8 o'clock he stated to his family that he was going to the pasture to look after some cows and when he did not return at noon for dinner, the daughter went in search of him, finding the body. Born On Farm Where He Died - Barry Cummings was born seventy years ago, on the farm where he died, and had always lived in that locality. He was a successful farmer and had a wide acquaintance throughout the community. For many years he had served as justice of the peace. He was a member of the IOOF lodge at New Richmond and also a member of the Maccabees. He is survived by his wife and the one daughter, and an adopted son, John Truder, who has made his home with the family for many years. There are also two sisters, Mrs Lydia Mickel of Portland, Mich, and Mrs Mary Minniss of Erie. Funeral services will be conducted from the home Thursday, at 11 am, and the interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery at Union City."
