She was born on March 18, 1923, in Cooksville to Walter and Edna McCann.
After attending the local schools, Dorothy started dating a sweet man named Gordon Currie who had just gotten home from serving in the U.S. Navy. They were later married on Oct. 23, 1948, at Nelson Presbyterian Church in Pine Lawn. To this union were born three children: Jay, Janice and Joyce. Dorothy was a devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley. She loved to cook and enjoyed making all kinds of desserts: pies, cakes, any kind of sweets.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband; Gordon Currie, of Foley, her son Jay and wife, Kathi Currie, of Foley, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one-on-the way. She is further survived by her two brothers: Rudolph and wife, Mary McCann, of Troy, Stanley McCann, of Hillsboro; three sisters: Dolly and husband, Bill Weible, of Troy, Doris Nordess, of Virginia, Gloria McCann, of Pevely and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept 15, 2013 from 1-3 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley. Funeral will be held Sunday, Sept 15, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Foley. Rev. Karla Cunningham will officiate. Interment will follow in the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery Foley.
