Margaret F. Kroger, 84, passed from her earthly body Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Morning Breeze, Greensburg.
Margaret was born May 2, 1929 to Casper & Marie (Kuntz) Wilmer. She lived in Henry County in her earlier years, moving to Decatur County where she then graduated from Greensburg High School in 1947. Margaret married Carl Kroger on June 16, 1948 in the St Mary's Catholic Church Greensburg. Together they made their home in Millhousen and raised their six children.
Margaret was a homemaker; she especially enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and gardening. She worked at the Decatur County Hospital in her early years as an assistant cook and then later as a Nurses Aid. She also worked hard as a House Keeper and Home Care Giver to various people for many years. She moved from Millhousen to Greensburg in 2000. She lived and worked at Crown Pointe. When her health declined, she moved to Morning Breeze in 2010. Margaret was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Millhousen and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knight's of St. John.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Charles Wilmer and Lowell Wilmer and step mom, Claris Hawkins.
She is survived by five sons - Herb (Carla) of Deputy, Bob (Roberta), Denny (Sandi), Tony (Tammy) all of Westport, Larry (Dee Dee) of Greensburg and one daughter, Donna Ferris (Scott) of Dalhart Texas. 12 grandchildren - Bret Kroger, Bart Kroger, Milissa Hensley, Craig Kroger, Angela Jackson, Cory Kroger, Tonya Kroger, Chad Kroger, Brandi Poole, Gabe Ferris, Emily Brown and Eric Kroger, and 26 great grandchildren. Sisters - Rita Veerkamp, Sherry Israel, Marianna Beckett, Martha Sneed and Katie Ledford. Brothers - Norbert Wilmer and Casper Wilmer Jr, and numerous nieces & nephews.
A public Rosary Service will be held on Monday, September 23 beginning at 3:30PM with a visitation for family and friends following, from 4 - 8PM all at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. The funeral will be on Tuesday, September 24 at 10AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Millhousen with burial following in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Morning Breeze and Arbor Grove for their love, compassion and care given to their Mom.
