Avis Pauline Ward, age 72, of 158 Jones Hollow Road, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Ward was born on Dec. 5, 1931, in Grundy, a daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Coy and Ollie Shortridge Wade.
Mrs. Ward had lived in the Bristol area for
the past 20 years, was a housewife, and was a member of the Central Holston
Christian Church.
Mrs. Ward is survived by: her husband of 53 years, James Waldon Ward; one son,
Steven C. Ward; one daughter, Susan Ward May; five grandchildren, James May,
Chris Ward, Connor Ward, Courtney Ward and Colin Ward; one brother, Danny Wade;
two sisters, Jean Wade and Shirley Wade; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 1, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the Grundy
Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Trent officiating. Burial will follow
in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands. The family will receive
friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home, or any
