Marie "Mary" Agnes Wiesner was born on 23 August 1919 in Garwood, Colorado County, Texas.
She was the second of five children of Frank Martin Wiesner and Agnes Dornak Wiesner.

Mary married Henry Joseph Smaistrla Sr., the son of Adolf J. Smaistrla and Rosie Dybala Smaistrla, on 19 July 1937 at St. John's Catholic Church in Taiton, Texas.
They were the parents of 5 children.
Sadly, only their first child, John Henry, lived to adulthood.
They had 4 more children, who all died shortly after birth:
Ronald Fredrick "Ronnie" Smaistrla - born and died on 26 June 1945.
Rodrick "Rickie" Smaistrla - born and died on 1 January 1947.
Twins: Henry J. Smaistrla Jr. and Marie P. Smaistrla - born and died on 5 August 1948.

Mary was a very accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful dresses and evening gowns for many ladies in El Campo. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She also grew a large vegetable garden and canned the produce from it. Mary loved flowers and always had a colorful assortment surrounding her home and in the brick flower box on her front porch.
She deeply loved her family and friends and always had a bright smile and kind word for everyone.

Mary Wiesner Smaistrla died on 19 September 2013 in Katy, Fort Bend County, Texas at the age of 94.
