Surviving are sons, Virgil L. (Merry Dee) Snyder, Goshen, Jeffrey A. (Mimi) Snyder, Springfield, Missouri, daughter, Nancy E. (Dr. Michael) Gasko, South Bend, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Virgil was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. He joined the U.S. Army Air Force Sept. 8, 1941 and was stationed at Fort Worth, Texas. Then Nov. 30, 1944 he was transferred to U.S. Army Infantry and left New York on the Troop Ship Santa Rosa. He landed in LaHarve, France, Dec. 7, 1944 and went into the 3rd Army under George Patton and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and then rode tanks into Germany until the war was over in Europe. He was discharged from the Army in Indiana on Dec. 15, 1945.
Virgil was owner/operator of Snyder's Men's Shop, Goshen. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen, Maplecrest Country Club; Scottish Rite; Mason and Rotary Club.
