EARLY PIONEER IS CALLED
Richard Cahill Passes Away at his Home Northeast of the Village at Four O'Clock on Wednesday Afternoon July Second
FUNERAL HELD ON SATURDAY

Richard Cahill, aged seventy-three years, one of the early pioneers of the county, died at his home two and a half miles northeast of this place on Wednesday, July second.
The deceased had been in poor health, a general breaking down following an illness that afflicted him some years ago. But the immediate cause or death was heart failure. He appeared to be usually well during the day and there was no indication of approaching dissolution. He died about four o'clock while sitting in his chair.
Mr. Cahill was a native of Ireland. He came to this country in the early days and settled in this county which has since been his home. As an early pioneer he took up his work in subduing the land and making a home with that courage and fortitude that insured success. He was a high minded, honest God fearing man who enjoyed the respect and confidence of his fellow men and the love and veneration of his family and his associates.
He leaves to mourn his loss three brothers, Thos., Patrick and William, of this place, and five sons and three daughters, James, of Bemidji, Minn., Thomas and Clarence of Washington and Edwin and Richard F. of this place and Mrs. Mary Sasse, of St. Charles, Mrs. Wm. Sexton and Mrs. John Jewison, of this place.
The funeral was held Saturday morning at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Rev. Father P. J. Fox, officiating. A large concourse assembled to pay their last respects to the venerated man. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
In company with the many friends, the Argus extends its sympathy and condolences in the sad affliction that has come to the family.
