Wayne and Ruth Etta (Petty)
Waterman, was born Oct. 13, 1923 in
Sac County. He graduated from high
school in Sulphur Springs and attended
Morningside College. He then
served in the U.S. Army with the
43rd Engineers in Japan and the
378th Engineers in Korea. On Feb.
23, 1949, he married Leah Elizabeth
Huxtable in Chicago, Ill. Waterman
lived his entire life in the Newell
area. He was employed as a construction
foreman for Western
Engineering of Harlan. He was a
member of the First Congregational
Church and the American Legion,
Newell.
