Albert Nelson "J Bo" Rusche born on the 9th of December 1924 in Appleby, Texas, passed away on the 17th of September, at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston.
He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1949 and honored the university by endowing the Nelson Rusche College of Business in 2002. He served his country honorably as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II where he was awarded a Purple Heart.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Rusche was the founder of A.N. Rusche Distributing Company and Mister Car Wash. He was a member of Lakeside Country Club, the Petroleum Club, the Houston Club, Houston Country Club, Texas Food and Fuel Association (formerly Texas Oil Marketers Association), the Colonneh Club, and was a founding member of the Mansfield Club in Port Mansfield, Texas. He was an avid quail hunter, fisherman, gin player and golfer.
Mr. Rusche was preceded in death by his wife, Billye Jo and his son, Steve. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Ball Rusche; daughter, Suzanne and her fiance', Charlie; grandchildren, Michele, Jordan and Nelson.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Jim Willerson, Dr. Tom Solis and all the other doctors and nurses who cared for him. Special thanks to John Graefing, Carol Nagel and Carmen Sanchez for all they did. To his caregivers, Karen and her staff, Nelly, Lilly, Maria, Sonya and Hidit.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock this afternoon until eight o'clock this evening, Friday, the 20th of September, in the Jasek Chapel and pavilion of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 21st of September, in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 1320 Main Street in Houston, where Dr. Steven P. Wende, Senior Pastor, and Rev. Charles H. Thompson, Executive Pastor, are to officiate.
The interment service is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers during Saturday's service are John Lynn Burrows, Lewis Rusche, Howard Rusche, Nelson Jefferys, Jim Bass, John Graefing, Cal McIntosh, and Gordon Karstedt.
Honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are Mike Wertz, Dr. Ab Abernathy, Baker Denman, and the gin players at Lakeside Country Club.
Immediately following the interment, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced at during the service.
