James Albert Clem, 71, of Chickamauga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at home. He was born in Elkmont, Alabama to the late, Charlie & A.Z. Clem, but had lived in the Chickamauga area since 1966 and was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. He had worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for more than 40 years and retired from the City of Chattanooga in 2000 after more than 10 years of service in the Engineering Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was also preceded in death by two infant siblings, 2 nephews, 1 niece, 1 great niece, 1 great nephew, a brother-in-law and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester Mason and Bertha Mason Stone.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 53 years, Mary Ann Clem of Chickamauga, GA; son & daughter-in-law, James Anthony & (Diane) Clem of Harrison, TN; daughter, Debora Ann Clem of Decatur, GA; brother, Charles & (Martha Ann) Clem of Elkmont, AL; sister, Alice & (Boyce) Holderfield of Florence, AL; sister-in-law, Janice & (Homer) Clem of Athens, AL; brother-in-law, Morris & (Joyce) Mason of Buffalo, TX; two granddaughters, Ashley & Katie Clem and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Allen Farris, Rev. Joe Hardin and Dr. R.C. Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Chickamauga City Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends after 2 p.m. Friday and prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
