HEREFORD - Services for Ira William Scott Jr., 83, of Hereford will be at 10 a.m. today in Trinity Fellowship Church with the Rev. Bobby Boyd of Amarillo and Steve Gillbert of Hereford officiating.

Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Cemetery under direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Scott died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Hereford Care Center.

He was born in Happy on Dec. 31, 1914. He married Leona "Tillie" Wallen on June 23, 1934, in Panhandle. They moved to Hereford in 1944. He was a member of First Christian Church, Farm and Ranching Soil Conservation Board, Hereford School Board and the Deaf Smith County Hospital Board. He was president of the Hereford Federal Land Bank Board for over 20 years, and he established Scott Seed Co. He served in the National Guard during World War II. He was a Deaf Smith County certified seed grower, and he was elected Outstanding Farmer in 1957.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Jo Eddy Riley of Hart, Kay Padgett of Hereford, Betty Kriegshouser of Hereford and Jan Stanford of Amarillo; a sister, Ann Weaver of Canyon; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
