Laurie Shumate Wells, resident of 200 Penn Ave., widow of Leonard A. Wells, died August 23, 2011 at Hospice House. Born in Modoc, she was a daughter of the late Furman N. and Linda Bosler Shumate. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School, and North Greenville Junior College. Mrs. Wells was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are a sister, Jessie Evans of Greenwood; nieces and nephews, Kay Boozer and husband, Brad, Linda Shirley and Randy Shumate all of Greenwood and Betty Todd of Abbeville; a loving friend, Linda Cobb and husband, Jack of Hodges. She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers. Graveside at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Blyth Funeral Home.
