MANSFIELD: Cheryl Colleen Yeager, 61, of Mansfield passed away September 17, 2013 at Knox Community Hospital.Cheryl was born June 13, 1952 in Mansfield to Robert J. and Mary L. Cochran Yeager. She was the Poster child "Help Open the Door" for the current New Hope building, and enjoyed backyard swimming, belly-smack diving and cannon balls. As a teenager, Cheryl attended Our Lady of Fatima School at St. John's Villa in Carrollton, Ohio. She competed in Special Olympics swimming at state competition in Columbus, Ohio where she won seven medals (both silver and gold). She also enjoyed crocheting afghans, playing bingo, her coloring books and crayons, and collecting movies, dolls, flowers, and pencils. Cheryl will be truly missed by her family and friends.Survivors include her mother; sisters Brenda L. (Dennis) Jarrell, Deborah I. (Rodney) Rickert; nephews and nieces Jeremy Invidiato-Yeager, Michelle (Logan) Melgar, Kristin Smith, Matt (Laura) Rickert, Shauna Smith, Ashley (Joe Todd) Smith, Brock Rickert; Godmother Clara L. Powell. Also surviving are several great-nieces and great-nephews. Cheryl was so proud to be called "Aunt Cheryl". She also leaves behind several aunts and cousins, as well as special nurses and friends at The Laurels of Mt. Vernon.She was preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Yeager, maternal grandparents Elmer and Irene Cochran; paternal grandparents Mathias and Elizabeth Yeager; Godfather Donald E. Powell.Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Friday from 4 - 7pm with a vigil service at 4pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:30pm Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Jeremy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.
