Police officer. He is the first and only Southington police officer to date to die in the line of duty. An Irish immigrant to the United States, he was a constable in the town of Southington for 35 years before the police force was officially incorporated in 1927. He wore badge #1 as a member of the SPD. Struck by a vehicle while directing traffic in downtown Southington on December 30, 1937, Officer Foley died on January 4, 1938 from the injuries he sustained in the accident. On Sept. 11, 2009, a section of Route 364 in Southington (Oakland Road and Berlin Street) was ceremonially named the Officer Timothy Foley Memorial Highway.
