Shawn was born in Chickasha on Oct. 24, 1949, the son of Mearl Gene and Dollene Roberta (Hill) Clark. Shawn attended Friend School until eighth grade and later graduated from Chickasha High School. He went on to attend the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma to study music. In August 1968, he joined the Air Force and served his country as a Sergeant in Vietnam, where he earned a Purple Heart among other commendations until his honorable discharge in May 1972.
Shawn made a career as a truck driver, hauling grain and hay with his father, M.G. Clark. Shawn had a wonderful sense of humor and teased everyone; anyone who knew him would confirm his 'orneriness'. He was a multi-talented musician who loved to play the piano and sing, especially Christian hymns to his mother and Elvis tunes to his daughters. He also loved to hunt, fish, and water ski (occasionally barefoot or in his cowboy boots).
He is survived by his daughters, Shelbi Lynn and Kenzi JoLee; Shelbi's children, grandsons, Kalon (11), Kade (8), and granddaughter, Leighton (2½); sister Renee and brother-in-law George Durington and their children, Tanner and Callie; his brother Lyndel's daughters, Milynda and Michelle; great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, cousins, and many friends, good neighbors, his close-knit ‘trucking' family, and canine companion Buddy.
Loving parents, Mearl and Dollene, and brother Lyndel Gene preceded him in death.
