Albert was the son of John Robert Clifford, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth (Franklin) Clifford.

John was the son of Isaac Clifford and Mary Satilfa (Kent) Clifford. Mary was born in Lexington, Virginia.

In the 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 U.S. Censuses, John and Mary were living in Martinsburg, Berkeley County, West Virginia.

John died of a cerebral hemorrhage from accidentally falling down the stairs.
