Matthew R. Guthrie, age 23, of Chicago, died on Sunday, September 15, 2013 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on January 14, 1990 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Anthony & Dawn (Dickinson) Guthrie. Matt was working as an intern for Alderman Fioretti in Chicago and was also seeking to represent the newly formed 25th Ward in Chicago. Matt was attending college in the Chicago area studying Political Science and Business. He enjoyed traveling, photography, and taking Helicopter Flight training. He was a fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, the Chicago Bears, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Matt also enjoyed and was proud of the community service he had done in the Chicago area including his involvement with the Chicago Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Charity of the Donor's Choice.
