Her mother was from Bristol County, Michigan, the daughter of Daniel and Sally (Kimball) Smith.
Rosa's mother Malissa died very young (age 18). She had one brother (William) and 3 half-siblings (Emma, Julia and Lorenzo North) by her father's second marriage to Laura Babcock.
Rosa married Jonathan Trumball Walton, Jr. on 14 September 1861 Attica (Lapeer) Michigan and together they had 6 children.
