It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Lee Greer, of Dallas, TX, on September 16, 2013, at the age of 91 years. Joyce grew up in Frost, TX and moved to the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, TX where she spent most of her life. Her last few years were spent at Arbrook Plaza Nursing and Rehab in Arlington, TX. Joyce was born on May 24, 1922 to the late Audley and Annie Louise Brittain.
Joyce married Charles Eugene Greer on September 17, 1942. Charles and Joyce shared 55 loving years of marriage. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Peggy Joyce Turner, Charles Eugene Greer, Jr. and Jane Ann Tenery.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her sister Lois Virginia Greer, and her son Charles Jr. Surviving relatives are her children Peggy and husband Jack Turner, and Jane and husband Jim Tenery. Joyce will be greatly missed by her 7 grandchildren: Shellie Davis, Tamara Neal, Scott Tenery, Brian Turner, Chad Tenery, Matt Greer, and Paige Varner, as well as her 14 great-grandchildren: Layce, Cole, Dillon, Breanna, Chandler, Sara, Greer, Peyton, Brooke, Karlie, Allie, Annie, Jack, Zachary; plus one great-great-grandchild, Brady.
Joyce was a strong-willed and independent woman, and a loving wife, friend, mom and grandmother, and was a great listener who sincerely cared for everyone she met. Joyce loved family, fishing, gardening, and all birds, especially hummingbirds.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at David Clayton & Sons Funeral Home, located at 200 W. Center, Duncanville, TX, Rev. Jim Tenery officiating. Interment will follow at Little Bethel Memorial Park in Duncanville. Viewing and family visitation will be Wednesday, September 18, 6:00-8:00 PM.
