Mr. C. T. Starling, 76, of Hamburg died Monday, September 20, 1999, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A native of Tillar and a former resident of the Milo community, he had lived in Hamburg for many years. He was a graduate of Fountain Hill High School, an U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Fountain Hill United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ethel Winningham Starling; a brother, Lester Starling; and a sister, Pauline Berwick. Survivors are two sons, Charles Reginald Starling of Conroe, TX, and Kirk Starling of Crossett; five daughters, Peggy Starling Moyer and Christal Starling Smith of Hamburg, Sharon Starling Cook of Conroe, Retta Starling Franklin of Baker, LA, and Yvette Starling Ostolasa of Ontario, OR; three sisters, Virginia Pierce and Colie Will Berryman of Fountain Hill and Bennevis Hartley of Hamburg; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Rev. Pat Wilkerson officiating. Pallbearers were Randy Gifford, Junior Oden, Charles, Laron and Paul Berryman and Hoyle Wood. Honorary pallbearers were members of VFW Post 9360. Burial followed services at the Zion Cemetery.
