NOTE: William Smith Meachum outlived his wife and all 8 of their children.
NOTE: It is believed that rather than the Smith Cemetery, burials of William Smith Meachum and his wife, Martha Winfree Meachum may be located on private farmland owned by grandsons of former owner, Jasper Streeter, just South of Lilesville in Anson County. I suspect, but do not know, that this farmland was once owned by William Smith Meachum. Pictures of headstones should clarify actual location(s) of burials.

Directions to location of burial(s) of William Smith Meachum and wife, Martha Winfree Meachum: Leaving the Anson County Historical Society office headed west & turn right at the first traffic light onto Washington Street. Go to next traffic light & turn right onto Highway 74 East. Travel 4.7 miles & turn right at Lilesville Elementary School onto Parsons Grove Church Road (State Road #1733). Travel 0.7 miles to dirt drive on left. This dirt drive will fork. The left fork leads to the cemetery. Follow the dirt road past the pond & to the left will be a grove of oak trees where these two burials are located.
