Byron Lawrence

Byron Lawrence, age 75, of York, NE passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at York. He was born on February 10, 1938 at Neosho, MO to John and Juanita (Snow) Lawrence. He was a veteran having served in the US Navy. On September 2, 1966, Bryon and Joyce Kinnaman were united in marriage at Bassett, NE. Byron was a farmer/mechanic and had worked at Heartland Coop in Giltner, NE. He also owned and operated Helen's Restaurant in Hampton, NE. In 1963 he founded a country/western band known as the Platte Valley Countrymen which performed in this area for many years. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, the Eagle's Club and the Elk's Club.

Byron is survived by his sons, Kevin (Nichole) Lawrence; and Doug (P.J.) Lawrence; three daughters, Angie (Glen) Cool; Carrie (Chris) Layman; and Patti (Nicholaus) Garcia; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles "Chick" (Gladys) Lawrence; and Harold Lawrence. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, two brothers, one sister, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Mike Neidow officiating. Burial with military honors will be in York's Greenwood Cemetery.
