Civil War: Company G, 5th Tennessee Mounted Infantry

The 5th Regiment, Tennessee Mounted Infantry, was recruited at Cleveland, Bradley County; Nashville, Davidson County; Calhoun, McMinn County; and Chattanooga, Hamilton County, and mustered into military service at Nashville on September 23, 1864. The regiment was mustered out at Nashville on July 17, 1865. William filed for a Union Civil War veteran's disability pension in Polk County, Tennessee, April 20, 1883, and received application No. 481,061 and certificate No. 448,064. After his death, Margaret filed for a Civil War widow's pension in Polk County on June 3, 1898, and received application No. 677,284 and certificate No. 468,477.
