When about 6 years old George left his birthplace in Northampton County Pennsylvania with his family and moved to Beaver County where the family had purchased Locust Grove a farm in Hopewell Township. Here he grew to maturity and married Sarah Murphy. The name was Eichling in Northampton County and changed to Eachel in Beaver County. In Ohio they were known as Eichling and in Fulton County, Illinois as Eachels and many other variations. In 1850 the George Eichling family was living in Columbiana County, Ohio and from there they would move to Fulton County, Illinois about 1852 settling in Fairview Township. George had lost his wife before 1860 census.
Six children made the move to Fulton County: son Joseph, and daughters Margaret A, Sarah, Lucinda, Ann, and Catherine.George was son of Johannes Andrew Eichling and wife Mary Ann. When 6 years old he moved with his family to Beaver County Pennsylvania and lived on his father's place known as Locust Grove.
He married Sarah Murphy in about 1830. Children included Joseph, Margaret (Mrs. Wm Roberts); Sarah
(Mrs. Albert Jones); Lucinda (Mrs. Josiah Harrington) Ann (Mrs. John R. Bennett); and Catherine (Mrs. Samuel H. Maclin). He moved to Fulton County Illinois in 1852 and lived in Fairview Township.
