James W. Gumm, 82, of Grafton, died at home Monday of cancer.
Born in Elkins WV, he lived in the Grafton and Elyria areas 25 years.
He retired in 1976 from Don Beal Construction Inc, in Elyria after working there many years.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and crafts.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruby (nee Weaver); daughters, Marie Jenkins of Clarksdale, MS and the Rev Joyce Borror of Elyria; sons, Thomas M of Valley City, Joseph A of Elkins, Kenneth "Jerry" of Gtafton, David W of Mendenhall, MS, Phillip W of Aston VA, Stephen D of London, OH and John S of Litchfield; 19 grandchildren and seven great-granchildren; sisters, Georgia Bowers, Arlene Phares and Betty Gumm, all of Elkins and Anna Woolums of Orlando, FL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Junior, a sister, Nellie and a son, Jimmy Dale.
Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
