Obituary for William Cline

William "Bill" M. Cline was born in Tiffin, Ohio on August 30, 1945. He was one of two children born from the union of the late Edward Cline and the late Lenore (Egler) Cline. Bill attended Heidelberg University for his Undergraduate Degree and received his Master's Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University.

Bill married the love of his life, the former Paula Massey in New Jersey on August 13, 1966. From this union came the birth of one son: Chris. The young family would move to the Monroe area when Bill was offered employment at Jefferson Schools. He would work several years as worked as a middle school teacher before his retirement.

He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching televised sports, and he was especially proud of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Bill was also a baseball fan and followed the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians. He was a member of the Monroe Lions Club and a past member of the Monroe Jaycee's Club. Bill was always very jovial and known to be quite the talker, maybe a little bit of a storyteller. He had a passion for eating, and enjoyed all types of foods.

William "Bill" Manville Cline, age 68 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on at 11:20am on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at his home. He had savored the taste of victory one more time as his beloved Buckeyes had performed well on Saturday. His passing was preceded by his beloved wife of forty-six years: Paula Cline; and his mother-in-law: Katherine Massey.

To cherish his memory, Bill leaves his son: Chris (Ami) Cline of Brighton; a sister: Bonnie (Dr. Ernie) Estep of Akron, Ohio; two grandchildren: Andrew and Emily Cline of Brighton; and a wonderful caregiver and dear friend: Kathi Morse.

Friends may gather from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070 (formerly Bennett Funeral Services). Private services will take place at a later date officiated by Pastor Kelly Voigt. His final rest will take place next to his beloved Paula at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Lions Club of Monroe or Mercy Memorial Hospice. Online guests may leave words of inspiration and comfort, share a photo, or make a donation by visiting www.merklefs.com and then selecting the Online Tributes page.
