Anna was the daughter of Croatian immigrants Jacob Bendekovic and Eva Ann Yurcich. You will see the names as Bendekovich and Yurvic(Jurvic) among Family members. She was born in a Croatian settled community of Fallston, Beaver County, PA. and Croatian was spoken in the home, they were of the Catholic Faith and old traditions were practiced.
My GrandMother was the youngest daughter of seven children: Frank, Frances Ann, Catharine, Peter, Nicholas, Anna, Joseph. Catharine is the only surviving sibling as of 2014. Anna Followed her sister Frances and cousin Luba too Chicago at sixteen where she met Harold Edward Payne of Utica, LaSalle, Illinois. They married 12 January 1940, and had three children Harold Edward Jr.(1940), Gerald Raymond (1942-1943,small pox) and Sharon Ann Marie Payne (1943-2010). Anna and Harold lived in Chicago until they divorced when the children were still young. Anna moved too Newton Falls, Trumbull, Ohio with the children and then later too Warren, Trumbull, Ohio where she lived the rest of her life.
Anna married second Lawrence Floyd-Divorced-No Children. And then Married third Daniel Leon Reed of Newton Falls, Ohio-Died in a Trucking accident-No Children

Memories: Grandma grew Roses and Carnations, Leaf Lettuce from the Garden, Made the best Pork Chops and Baked Macaroni and Cheese. She was a Business Lady and owned two Lounges at one time in town. She took Taxi's everywhere she did not Drive. At Christmas Time- Ann and Cousin Tootie and Mom....would make tables of cookies of every kind. She liked to swim and always had a pool in the back yard. When we were young she always gave us great Christmas Gifts. We lived next to her on Union St. and also in her later years we lived with her. Her Favorite drink was Vodka and Tomato Juice. She was a pretty Woman. I focus on remembering the good memories. As a child she would take me to PA. to visit Family and used to tell me she was going to take me to the Croatian club when I was older and fix me up with a good looking Croatian...I remember her having me tap dance for everyone. She would take me to have my Hair Styled. She believed in Woman wearing Scarfs on their heads and would ask me where my babushka was and if you were lazy she would call you an old stu-da-bu-bu. My oldest brother Danny was her favorite and he took full advantage of it..he would ride his bike to visit grandma when we moved a distance away.
On 4 June 1985, Anna passed away at Warren General Hospital at age 64, Services were held at James Funeral Home 7 June 1985 at 10 am, Officiating Father K. Kish of St. Roberts Catholic Church in Cortland, Trumbull, Ohio.
She was buried next too Daniel Leon Reed in Hawley Cemetery.
It was a very small funeral, Fanny(Frances) and Cookie(Joseph) came and a few friends of Our Family, others were Whetzel Family members who knew Grandma. My Uncle Pete and Judy Whetzel came and Uncle Kenny and Aunt Elsie. My Uncle Pete and Grandma used to sit and have drinks together after he would get off work. She was dressed in a pale blue and the lining of her casket was a pretty light Blue with a silver cross on the top. The Blue was for the color of her eyes. She looked at peace.
In memory of Grandma I grow Roses in the Garden and when baby Sharon was born (namesake Mom). Her middle name Rose was in memory of all the Rose of Sharon's Grandma grew in her yard.
The year Sharon was born we planted Rose of Sharons along the Pathway to the House. They get taller and taller every Spring.
