Faye V. Murphy, 83, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Osage Baptist Church with Charles Broadhurst and Floyd Shannon officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Lockney Cemetery of Lockney by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Murphy was born in Denton County on Jan. 17, 1919. She married Charlie William Murphy Jr. in Amarillo on July 20, 1942. They owned the Baby Valet Diaper Service in Amarillo before moving to Plainview in 1953.

They lived together in Plainview until December of 1997 when they moved to Amarillo. She was a homemaker and had an active part in the family farm and the family business of custom combining.

She was a longtime member of the Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ in Plainview until her move to Amarillo where she joined the San Jacinto Church of Christ.

She was active in the Plainview Senior Citizen's Association and an avid bridge player. She enjoyed playing games. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie William Murphy Jr.; her parents; three sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Dale Murphy and wife, Pat, Charlie William "Bill" Murphy III and wife, Linda, all of Houston, and Denzel Ross Murphy and wife, Sandra, of Amarillo; four brothers, Fate Shannon, John Shannon, and Floyd Shannon, all of Amarillo, and Henry Shannon of Phelan, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be to Olivia's Angels, in care of BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.
