Death of Mrs. Mary C. Libert

Mrs. Mary C. Libert died at the home of her son, A. J. Libert, in this place. Sunday, March 11, 1900, of pneumonia, in her eighty-fourth year.
The deceased was born at Baulet, Belgium, April 27, 1816. She emigrated to this country in 1856, locating at Kankakee, and resided in that vicinity until 1857. The family next moved to the vicinity of L’Erable, and has since been a resident of this section. Mr. Libert died 1889.
For one of her age she was remarkably active until a few weeks ago, when she contracted an attack of the grippe, from which pneumonia developed, causing her death. She was prepared for the final call and was ready to go.
She leaves six children, Mrs. Frank Ponton, of Grant Part, Rev. Father G.J. Libert of Canton, Ill., F. J. Libert, of Bradley, E. J. Libert, of Chicago, and Gaspard and A. J. Libert, of this place.
Funeral services were held at the Catholic church in this place Tuesday at 8 a.m., Mass being conducted by Father O’Dwyer, of Gilman, Assisted by Father Kearney, of Henry, and Father Kelly, of Gilman. The remains were taken to L’Erable where Solemn Requiem High Mass was sung by Father G. J. Libert, son of the deceased, Father Kelly, deacon; Father O’Dwyer, sub-deacon, and Father Kearney, master of ceremonies. Father Levasseur preached the sermon and performed the last rites. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at L’Erable.
