His parents were William V. Hutt and Ruth A. Spinney both from Nova Scotia Canada. According to the 1870 census he also had siblings Louise M and William A.
On November 29, 1893 at age 25 Frank married his wife Emma F. Eason also 25 in Gloucester MA. Her parents were George Edward Eason and Mary A. McDonald.

Frank attended Trinity College and Boston University. He passed away at the age of 77.

During his life he had been newspaper reporter for The Lynn Daily Item, The New Bedford Standard-Times and the Taunton Gazette. Also at one time was employed as a secretary to William Ordway Partridge. Later in life he was a naturalist and historian, and wrote a 3 volume history of Bristol County.
He donated his 400 acre property on Staples Street to the city and it is now know as the Emma NF Hutt Memorial Forest after his wife.
He requested that he be cremated and that no clergy, flowers or formal service be associated with his funeral.
His obit can be found in the Boston Herald December 1, 1946 page 94.
