MACON, GA- Betty Ruth Rigdon Hamlin, 84, of Macon, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, at Morningside Assisted Living in Macon.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Monday, September 16, 2013, at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Tifton. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
Born October 30, 1928, in Waycross to the late Hancell L. Rigdon and Mary Magdaline Whiddon Rigdon, Mrs. Hamlin was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hamlin; three brothers, Hodges K. Rigdon, Steve Rigdon, and Orville R. Rigdon; and one sister, Kathryn Rigdon Carter.
Mrs. Hamlin grew up in Waycross, raised her family in Lizella, and later moved to Lake Sinclair Milledgeville. In the 1970's, she was the largest female residential contractor for homes in Georgia. Mrs. Hamlin was a wonderful homemaker, mother, and wife, and she loved to sew and entertain.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, 304 Pierce Ave., Macon, Ga. 31204, or the Lizella United Methodist Church, 2920 S. Lizella Road, Lizella, Ga. 31052.
