Andrew immigrated to America in 1853. He arrived in the Port of New York on August 9, 1853 on the ship ST. DENIS. He worked as a farm laborer. On June 25, 1857 Andrew Smith married Anna Maria Heber in the St. James Lutheran Church at Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. He is listed in the Civil War Union Draft Records for Wabash Twp., Tippecanoe Co., IN. Family history says that the lost a leg in the war and died as a result of his wounds. August 16, 1864 his wife Anna Marie petitioned the Court of Common Pleas, Tippecanoe Co., for an appraisal of his real and personal property, as he was lately deceased. His burial site is unknown at this time 9/12/19.
