Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Monday, February 19, 1934, page 1:
  Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Katherine Hanser, who died at her home here Saturday evening, were conducted this afternoon from the residence at 2 o'clock, thence to the Eden Evangelical Church at 2:30. Interment was made at Woodlawn Cemetery, Rev. H.J. Bredehoeft officiating.
  Mrs. Hanser's death occurred on her 81st birthday anniversary. Death, attributed to complications incident to her advanced age, followed a lingering illness.
  Mrs. Hanser was born in Louisville, Ky., in 1853. She came to Edwardsville with her parents at the age of 12 years and had lived here since. Her husband, Jacob John Hanser, died in 1901. Mrs. Hanser was a member of the Eden church and the Ladies Aid of that church and was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah lodge.
  Four daughters and five sons survive, one daughter having preceded her parents in death in 1893. Those surviving are Miss Aline Hanser, Edwardsville; Misses Amelia and Mathilda Hanser, St. Louis; Miss Lourene Hanser, Kansas City; Edward, Carl and Robert Hanser, Edwardsville, John Hanser, Seattle, Wash., and William Hanser, St. Louis. Three grandchildren also survive.
