Leonard E. Farmer, 84, of Marcy, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Heritage Health Care Center. Leonard was born on October 1, 1924, the son of James and Grace Sloan Farmer. He was a graduate of West Winfield High School. On May 24, 1952, he married Margaret Clark in Maynard Methodist Church. They enjoyed a blessed union of 56 years. Leonard was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was devoted to his God. He was a simple man whose life long dairy farming career developed his deep abiding love for animals and connection to the earth. Surviving are his beloved wife, Margaret; two daughters, Karen Farmer and her husband, Joseph Leary, Westmoreland, and Debra Boatman and her husband, Robert, Binghamton. He also leaves four cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Patrick Leary and Ryan and Kent Boatman; two sisters, Geraldine Farmer, California, and Marilyn Wright, Florida; and a niece and nephew.
