Noel Bernard Washington, 52, of Stafford County died suddenly on Aug. 9, 2005, at Mary Washington Hospital. Noel was born on Sept. 7, 1952, in Charleston, S.C., to the late Clarence and Thelma Washington. Noel served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Until his death, Noel worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office for over 28 years. Noel is survived by his devoted wife, Janice Washington; two daughters, Tanya Close and Alysha Washington; one son, Darnell Washington, all of Stafford; a son in law, Darrell Close; three grandsons, DeWayne Close, DeLonte Noel Close and Darnell Washington Jr.; a mother in law, Edith Young; father in law, John Young Sr.; four brothers, Kerwin Washington, William Washington, John Young Jr. and Lemond Pierce; and three sisters, Danon (D.D.) Pierce, Sylvia Washington and Karen Young. Friends will be received 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 19, at Little Union Baptist Church, 17150 Mine Road, Dumfries, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., the Rev.
