Charles Eugene Ratledge, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Stevens County Hospital, Hugoton.

He was born Feb. 9, 1935, to Charles Crawford and Beatice Grace (Hoover) Ratledge in Timken.

He married JoAnn (Tilford) Slemp May 3 1981, in Guymon, Okla. She survives.

He was a member of VFW Hugoton.

Other survivors include one daughter, Diona Hixon, Decatur, Ark.; three step sons, Keith Slemp, Moscow, Roy Slemp, Anchorage, Alaska, and Kevin Slemp and wife, Misty; two brothers, Jim Ratledge and Birney Ratledge; three sisters, Thelma Blair, Wilma Grace Lindsey and Donna Slaughter; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles Foster Ratledge, one brother, Dale Ratledge, three sisters, Margaret Smith, Velma Smith and Wanda Smith, and three grandchildren.

• Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the United Methodist Church, Moscow, with the Rev. Tim McCray presiding.

Burial was at the Moscow Cemetery.
