Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Mark Ledoux, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Guidry was a native and resident of Carencro. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, where she was on the Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society, Ladies Altar Society, and Sacred Heart League. Anita was affectionately known in Carencro and Lafayette as "The Meat Pie Lady". Her love for making the meat pies was surpassed only by her love for the "visit" from her loyal customers.
Survivors include one son, Lynn Guidry and his wife, Gayle, of Carencro; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Guidry of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Chris Guidry and his wife, Brenda, of Baton Rouge, Beth Connor, of Baton Rouge, Anjanette Stewart and her husband, Geoff, of Lafayette, and Martin Guidry and his wife, Leanne, of New Orleans; and four great grandchildren, Lauren Guidry, Robert Dale Guidry, Chapin Stewart, and Emory Rhule Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rhule Joseph Guidry; one son, Larry Guidry; her parents, Henry Broussard and the former Anna Mouton; one sister, Monique Credeur; and three brothers, Rheul Broussard, Fernand Broussard, and Stanley Broussard.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home by the Bonne Mort Society.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street Suite #200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
Pallbearers will be Martin Guidry, Chris Guidry, Geoff Stewart, Mike Hunt, Vernon Mott, and Brett Pryor.
