BRISTOL , Tenn. Virgil Ray Carr, 63, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Elizabethton, Tenn., and lived in the area all of his life except for a short stent in California. While his health permitted, Virgil worked in the building industry. However, he is best known for his assistance around the Musick Lakeside Campground where he greeted and interacted with all of the campers. He never met a stranger and made all of the guests feel at home. Virgil was a sports fanatic, especially for the Tennessee Volunteers. He used his love of sports to engage and interact with complete strangers. Virgil was predeceased by his parents, Arline and Ruby Parlier Carr; and by two brothers, Arline Jr., and Terry Carr. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carol Snyder Carr; three brothers, Danny (Pamela) Carr of Elizabethton, Tenn., Bobby Carr of Johnson City, Tenn., and Mark (LeeAnn) Carr of Hampton, Tenn.; and one sister, Lola (Arthur) Martinez of Kingsport, Tenn.. He is also survived by a special friend, Brad Fleming of Oroville, Calif. A graveside funeral service to celebrate Virgil Ray Carr's life will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Sunday, September 15, 2013, with the Rev. Jon Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:45 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service prior to the graveside service.
