Miss Elizabeth M. Brown passed away at her home on Monitor street, Schenevus, Sunday evening, after a long and extended illness. She had been as comfortable as usual during the day and exhibited no alarming symptoms until about two hours before she expired. She had borne her long illness cheerfully and bravely. Miss Brown was the youngest daughter of the late Major Harvey and Helen Chase Brown. She was born on August 19th, 1880 and was a lifelong resident of Schenevus. She was educated in the High school and graduated in 1898. For a time she conducted the telephone exchange which position she resigned to accept one in the post office, which she filled until forced to resign in June, 1918, on account of ill health. She has been tenderly cared for by her sister, Miss Ella Brown, who is the last surviving member of the family and who has the deepest sympathy of the entire community. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2.30 o'clock from the home, the Rev. Robert Boyce of Wilkes Barre officiating. The members of the Order Eastern Star of which she was a member attended the funeral services in a body. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, attesting the sympathy and love of friends. The burial was made in the family plot in Schenevus cemetery. Our Schenevus Reporter.
