Gwendolyn Brooks of Grand Ledge a loving mother, grandmother and sister passed away September 8, 2013. Gwen was born July 23, 1920 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Frederick and Ethel (Cherrett) Dible. She was a longtime faithful member of the Grand Ledge First Congregational UCC where she played on the church softball women's team and was a charter member of the Congregators. Gwen enjoyed traveling and loved to bowl. She was the second woman in the Lansing area to score a 300 game. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Arnold G. Brooks on July 16, 2009. She is survived by sons, Frederick C. (Sally) Brooks and Chris A. (Terri) Brooks; grandchildren, Ashley, Victoria, Tyler, Michelle, and Tana Brooks; sister, Faye Shane; brothers, Richard (Connie) Dible and Frank (Judy) Dible. Gwen was also preceded in death by daughter, Linda M. Brooks; brothers, George, Jack and Louis Dible. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 16, 2013, 11:00am at the Grand Ledge First Congregational United Church of Christ, 210 W. Saginaw Highway, Grand Ledge, Michigan with Dr. David J. Smith, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-6:00pm at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Memorial contributions may be given to the Grand Ledge First Congregational UCC.
