She was born on February 5, 1947 to Alvin "Al" and Grace (Morris) Harlow in Norfolk, Virginia.
She is preceded in death by her father.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Paul Dawson; her mother, Grace; sons: David Dawson, Justin (Jennifer) Dawson and Danny (Cara Oden) Dawson; grandchildren: Brittany, Breanna, Brady, and their mother, Dawn Dawson, Roan, Audrey and Elijah Dawson and Crystalyn Oden.
Karen was a 1965 graduate of North High School in Springfield.
She and her husband resided in the Clark County area and North Lewisburg for 17 years before moving to Tennessee in 2004. Karen was the secretary for the Reunion Association for the USS Tennessee (BB43) and alongside Paul they were the curators for World War II Remembrance Museum U.S.S. Tennessee (BB43) in Huntsville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Jackson Lytle Williams Funeral Home Center, Springfield with Pastor Debbie Vickers officiating.
A visitation will be on Friday, September 13 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home
