Salathiel Martin was a Captain in the Revolutionary War, from North Carolina. After the war, he married Mary Cook and moved to Claiborne County. His exact burial is unknown, but very possible he was buried in the Billingsley Cemetery. His granddaughter, Eliza Billingsley, was a care giver to Mary Martin, wife of Salathiel. Mary died in 1858.
