Wife of:
1). George Calvin "Cad" Petrey
2). James Elam

This Florence Leach is a bit of a mystery.

There is a marriage record of her marrying one of my mom's cousins, Cad Petrey, on 03 Mar 1915, but that record gives her birth date as 25 Feb 1897, not 07 Feb (and not 1900 or 1901). The difference in year may be because she may have fibbed to appear older, but why is the day of birth different? And the marriage certificate names her parents, so it's the correct Florence Leach.

In the 1900 census (enumerated June 8th) there is a 3-month-old "Baby Leach" but that can't be her because that baby was listed as a son (unless that was a mistake?). The 1910 census (enumerated in May) lists her as 9 years old, so with a February birth that points toward 1901 being the birth year. (And there's no sign of the "Baby Leach" purported son who'd been listed in the 1900 census as 3 months old).

But when she married James Elam in 1926, she used 07 Feb 1900 as her birth date. Her same parents are listed (with her mother Victoria Perlina/Paulina being listed "Pauline"), but she stated that she had never been married previously, and was not widowed, and not divorced (and stated she was born in Cincinnati, OH, when her prior marriage certificate stated she was born in Lincoln Co, KY; the 1910 census stated she'd been born in KY as well). Why did she not admit to her prior marriage to Cad Petrey?

Someone on Ancestry states that her death certificate names her as a "widow of James Elam." But why was her surname Leach at her death, and not Elam? Very strange.

(A news article regarding her death names a sister as "Mrs. Charles Sulfoyle." Florence had a sister Margaret/Maggie who married a Charles Guilfoyle, so it appears the news article misspelled the sister's surname).
